It is the conviction of Gillespie Academy that the role of the academy is primarily academic and not social. Therefore, the school does not provide formal social activities. However, one of the highlights of a year at Gillespie Academy is the opportunity to fellowship with peers who are equally committed to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. The small class size facilitates a tight knit bond between classmates that often continues long after the year at Gillespie is complete. The student lounge, fitted with couches, a ping-pong table and air hockey gives students an opportunity to relax and bond outside of class time. Beyond that, students are free to organize their social lives as they see fit, within the bounds of Gillespie’s constitution and Christian prudence.
In the past, Gillespie students have organized a volleyball team and joined our local church league. Each year has had a personality of its own, and therefore the social aspect changes from year to year. One year was known for Dutch Blitz tournaments at lunch, another for a passion for Spike Ball and so on. The students are always warmly invited to take part in the life of Grace Presbyterian Church, which includes weekly Wednesday night prayer meetings and invitations to homes for meals, games and fellowship. Life at Gillespie in never dull! Check out what former Gillespie students have had to say: HERE
